Ainda que — concede, then stay

Ainda que, mesmo que, por mais que take the subjunctive: ainda que tenha mudado. Then you say what you actually mean, often with não acho que + subjunctive, or an indicative landing. English 'even if' is not even though — ainda que covers both, context decides.

• Ainda que seja tarde, fico.

  Even if it's late, I'll stay.

• Mesmo que o pacote chegue, tenho dúvidas.

  Even if the package arrives, I have doubts.

• Por mais que explique, não convence.

  However much he explains, it doesn't convince.
